The espresso bar that put Oslo on the world coffee map, a former world barista champion roasting on site, serving a short menu with total conviction. Pilgrimage-worthy, and tiny. Tim Wendelboe's coffee shop and roastery works with a changing range of producer-specific coffees. The online selection distinguishes espresso and filter roasts and includes subscriptions, so ask about the day's cups and choose beans according to how you brew at home.
HIDDEN GEMRestaurant
A neighborhood bistro in Kampen's wooden-house village that people cross the city for, blackboard menu, natural wine, and the warmth of somewhere that belongs to its street. Kampen Bistro has been a neighbourhood meeting place since 2001. Its seasonal menu offers a three-course option with a choice of fish, meat or vegetarian main, alongside individual dishes. The menu changes regularly, and private events can be arranged separately.

Coffee by day, cocktails by night, all inside a 1963 time capsule of Norwegian mid-century design, every chair is vintage and most of it is for sale. Fuglen began in Oslo in 1963 and now has Oslo locations in Sentrum and Gamlebyen as well as bars abroad. The company also sells its own coffee beans; choose which Oslo bar you intend to visit before checking its hours or meeting friends.

Koie Ramen is an authentic Japanese ramen concept with multiple locations across town, including Torggata, Bispevika, and Grünerløkka.
