Fun things to do
Start with making rather than sightseeing: pour a scented candle at Byvoks, paint ceramics at Creative Collective, cast jewellery at Støp, sit in on a TV recording, or learn cocktails at Himkok.

SEASONALStudio Markblomst’s tulip picking at Linderud gård is a seasonal flower-growing event, where visitors select and cut stems to take home. The museum’s 2026 programme offered two sessions in May, and children were welcome to join. Visitors could bring scissors and a bag, with tools also available to borrow. Those sessions have now finished: this listing is an idea for the tulip season, rather than an activity currently available every week. Check the organiser’s next announcement before travelling to the farm.

Vestkantbadet at Sommerro combines a historic swimming pool with a Finnish sauna in a restored bathing hall from 1932. Per Krohg’s mosaics remain part of the room, making the surroundings a reason to visit as well as the swim. You do not need to stay at the hotel: outside guests can book pool and sauna access during the public guest hours. A day-guest visit costs NOK 325 and includes towels. Access is for ages 16 and over, and public hours differ from the hotel’s member and resident schedule.

Grefsenkollen’s fire-pit experience is a booked outdoor meal above the city, with a private fire pit for a two-hour session. The published menu includes venison stew, apple gløgg, stick bread and marshmallows, and the operator lists a covered alternative with heaters for poor weather. Each pit accommodates around eight to ten people, with minimum booking sizes depending on the day. This is a seasonal activity rather than a drop-in café service. Check the booking calendar for the next available session and dress for an evening outdoors.

Sommerro on Frogner hosts a fun and atmospheric concept evening called "Wine, Dine & Crime," offering a complete night out mid-week. The evening kicks off in the warm, inviting Expedition Hall with a delicious 2-course dinner from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Following dinner, guests head into the hotel’s intimate private cinema room outfitted with soft, comfortable armchairs. A gripping classic crime film hits the screen at 8:00 PM, complete with popcorn and soda (beverages for dinner are ordered separately). Priced around 755 NOK per person, it is a lovely mid-week treat to share with friends or on a date in a gorgeous setting.

Punk Royale on Frognerveien is the complete opposite of a quiet, formal fine dining experience. Here, luxury ingredients like caviar, lobster, and truffle meet an unfiltered and wildly chaotic show. The evening is set up as a complete package at roughly 1800 to 2000 NOK per person, which covers both the fixed tasting menu and the beverage pairing, with generous pours ranging from wine to shots throughout the night. Everything is delivered at a rapid-fire pace accompanied by smoke machines, strobe lights, shouting, and heavy beats blaring through the speakers. The atmosphere is intense, playful, and totally uncompromising. You might find yourself eating caviar straight off your hand or being spoon-fed by the chefs in between courses. It is also worth noting that they maintain a strict policy against photos and filming, forcing everyone to stay fully present in the moment. It is the ultimate spot to bring a group for an unconventional night out where the line between a high-end dinner and a wild party completely disappears.

Located along the Akerselva river at Brenneriet, you will find the classic Sunday market at Blå. Every single Sunday, the street fills with stalls selling everything from handmade jewelry, ceramics, and knitwear to second hand clothes, vintage treasures, and vinyl records. It is a great spot if you are looking for lovely decor items for your home, unique birthday or Christmas gifts, or other niche finds you won't trace in regular chain stores. Spread across spacious halls at Kjelsås, the Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology covers engineering, industry, science, and medicine. Here you can explore historical exhibits featuring everything from a real mummy and vintage photographs to a large train you can actually walk inside. Personally, I found the first section covering the development of electricity and hydropower in Norway super interesting. The Science Center makes the visit interactive and fun for both kids and adults, allowing you to get hands on with physics, light, and mechanics. Once inside, it is remarkably easy to spend several hours without noticing the time fly by. Adult tickets cost around 170 to 190 NOK, with discounted options for children, students, and families. The venue also features a cozy cafe and a gift shop. It is a great destination for a family weekend outing, a day with nieces or nephews, or simply for exploring on your own.

In the city center you will find Paradox Museum, an interactive space dedicated to optical illusions and paradoxes. As you walk through dozens of different rooms and exhibits, your senses, angles, and perception of balance are put to the test. The layout is designed so you can capture unique photos along the way where gravity and perspective appear completely reversed. The vibe is curious and playful, and a self guided walk usually takes under an hour. Tickets cost around 230 to 260 NOK for adults, with special rates for children. This is a great activity if you are taking your niece out for a fun afternoon, planning something memorable for the family, or looking to try something different with a group of friends.
