PAN by Bread N Butter

The menu includes phở, bánh mì, rice and noodle dishes, with tofu and vegetarian choices alongside meat and seafood. There is also a sharing menu for two or more, useful if you want several flavours without choosing each dish separately. The restaurant opens in the afternoon, making it a lunch-to-dinner option rather than a breakfast stop. The kitchen closes thirty minutes before the restaurant, so allow time when arriving late.

Torshovdalen

A long green valley rolling downhill from Torshov with a clear line of sight to the fjord, locals' pick for sledding in winter and long evening picnics in June. Torshovdalen runs between Torshov and Sinsen, with paths for walking, cycling and running and a high point looking toward central Oslo and the fjord. In winter the municipality lists sledding, ski tracks and a weather-dependent natural ice area.

Hønse-Lovisas Hus

Historic wooden house and museum café on the Akerselva river, serving Norwegian waffles and coffee. Part of Oslo Museum / Arbeidermuseet. Hønse-Lovisas hus is the café by Oslo Museum's Sagene location, distinct from the museum cafés at Frogner and Grønland. Combine coffee and a light bite with a walk along Akerselva, and confirm the café's own hours before travelling.

Liminal

Liminal is a small restaurant on Torshovgata with six tables and six seats at the bar. Dinner from Wednesday to Saturday centers on a seasonal set menu built around Nordic ingredients; the menu changes often. Sunday and Monday bring a smaller à la carte offering, and Saturday also has lunch service. The kitchen is small, so it says its ability to adapt dishes for allergies and other dietary needs is limited. Book ahead if you want to eat, especially for dinner. Drop-in at the bar depends on spare capacity.
