Vaaghals is a Norwegian restaurant in Barcode built around seasonal ingredients and food shared around the table. Its menus distinguish lunch, Saturday brunch, evening dining and larger groups, so the experience depends on when and with whom you visit. The evening signature menu has eight or more servings, designed for the whole table rather than separate individual orders. Saturday brunch is also served for sharing, for two to eight guests, from 11:00 with last orders at 14:00. Evening menu service starts at 17:00 with last orders at 21:00. Check the separate group menus when booking for eight or more guests, and discuss dietary needs when reserving. Dishes change with the Norwegian seasons.

Mirabel Sørenga sits right by the waterfront, offering a great mix of lunch and dinner options with views across the fjord. The menu spans widely from fresh seafood dishes to hearty steaks like entrecôte and tomahawk, alongside delicious stone-baked pizzas. A total must try is one of their satisfying daytime dishes or a properly tender steak in the evening. The outdoor seating is a major draw when the weather plays along, while the indoor space keeps things cozy and casual. It is a fantastic spot to catch up with friends over drinks, enjoy good food, and soak in the lively atmosphere right by the docks.

Kumi Oslobukta is one of the city's favorite brunch destinations, serving organic, plant-based comfort food in a bright, Japandi-inspired setting. What sets it apart is its dedication to 100% organic ingredients alongside a curated menu of house-made fresh juices, natural wines, and creative cocktails. A total must try on their brunch menu is the fluffy pancake stack. The calm and aesthetic vibe makes it a perfect spot to meet up with friends for a relaxed weekend brunch or a quiet weekday break.

Hanami is located right on the waterfront at Tjuvholmen and offers a properly boujee experience that I think is completely worth the visit. The service sets the tone right away, just having them take your coat at the door and hang it up for you sets the standard for the rest of the evening. The menu combines a Japanese robata grill, izakaya, and sushi, featuring everything from fresh sashimi and robata-grilled skewers to wagyu beef, glazed black cod, and dim sum. You can order à la carte or choose set tasting menus ranging from around 800 to 1300 NOK per person. With fjord views, solid cocktails, and outdoor seating in the summer, it is a spot I truly recommend when you want to make a night of it.

Lille Herbern is a seasonal seafood restaurant situated on a small island just off Bygdøy. To get there, you take the small ferry running regularly from Herbernveien at Bygdøynes, a short trip taking only a couple of minutes. The venue offers a maritime atmosphere with outdoor seating right at the water's edge. The menu focuses mainly on fresh fish, shellfish, and seafood platters. Prices lean toward the higher side, and since the spot is only open during the summer season with limited capacity, booking a table well in advance is recommended.
