SEASONALFrogner Stadion is one of Oslo's most classic and spacious ice rinks, ideal when you want plenty of room to move around on the ice. It is a fantastic winter activity whether you are going on a casual date, hanging out with friends, or bringing the little ones out for some fresh air. Bring your own skates, or contact Skattkammeret Frogner in the stadium building. Equipment loans are free for children and young people under 25. Ask Skattkammeret about options and prices for older adults before travelling. Public skating shares the stadium with organised sport, so check the municipal calendar for the session you want to attend. There is also a cozy kiosk on site where you can grab a hot drink to warm up when your fingers get cold. The atmosphere here is relaxed, sporty, and captures the true winter spirit of Oslo.

SEASONALRight in the heart of Oslo, nestled between Nationaltheatret and the Parliament, you will find the Spikersuppa skating rink. The rink opens for winter skating when the ice and weather conditions allow. This is a wonderfully cozy winter activity that brings out the best seasonal atmosphere as soon as the cold weather hits the city. Access to the ice rink is completely free for everyone if you bring your own skates. If you do not have gear, you can rent a pair at the pavilion next to the ice for 200 NOK. The pavilion also houses a kiosk offering hot drinks and snacks whenever you need a quick break to warm up. There is usually a lively crowd and great energy around the ice, especially during the holiday season when the lights are lit. It is the ideal activity whether you are planning a winter date night, catching up with friends, or bringing the little ones along for some festive fun.

Experiencing The Nutcracker at the Oslo Opera House is the ultimate holiday tradition in the city. As winter sets over the fjord and the lights twinkle across Bjorvika, the main stage turns into a magical wonderland filled with sparkling snowflakes, live orchestral music, and pure festive charm. It is a breathtaking show that captures the holiday spirit for all ages. This is the Norwegian National Ballet's most popular production of the year, and tickets sell out extremely fast. Dates often fill up months in advance, so booking your seats as soon as the season drops is essential if you want to be part of the tradition. Ticket prices generally range from around 200 NOK for balcony seats to approximately 1000 NOK for prime orchestra spots. Under-30 and child discounts are normally 50%, but do not apply to 195 NOK tickets or the ticket fee. Pair the show with pre theater drinks nearby to make it an unforgettable winter evening by the water.
