The Itinerary
72 hours · three days
Three days gives Oslo room to become practical and personal. Day one stays central, day two follows the east-side neighbourhoods, and day three is built around making something: candle wax in the morning, a proper lunch, jewellery in the afternoon, and a last neighbourhood dinner.
09:00
Ease in with coffee in a 1963 design time-capsule, then walk it off toward the harbour.

~9 min walk · 750 m
10:30
The Nordics' largest art museum makes the right first impression. The national collection, The Scream, the Light Hall. Take your time; you have three days.

~13 min walk · 1.1 km
13:30
Lunch in the harbour food shed at Vippetangen, then walk back through Kvadraturen instead of following a landmark circuit.

~24 min walk · 1.9 km
16:00
Learn the build, balance, and spirits behind the bar before the evening crowd arrives. It is a better introduction to Himkok than simply queueing for a drink later.
Classes run on selected dates; book this first and adjust the afternoon around it.
~16 min walk · 1.3 km
18:30
An aperitivo of something you've never heard of, off the ever-changing wine board.
~8 min walk · 650 m
20:00
Dinner on the riverbank in Grünerløkka to close a first day that's covered the whole spine of the city.
09:30
A pilgrimage coffee at the roastery that made Oslo a world coffee city, then wander Grünerløkka before the shops open.

~15 min walk · 1.3 km
11:00
Cross to Tøyen for two hundred years of botany in the middle of the city. Victorian palm houses, quiet lawns, free and never crowded on a weekday morning.

~18 min walk · 1.4 km
13:00
Back down to the Akerselva for lunch among the food hall's producers and counters. Follow the river afterward for the industrial-heritage walk.

~14 min walk · 1.1 km
16:00
An afternoon hour on Grünerløkka's favourite lawn, or vintage-shopping along Markveien. This is the neighbourhood at its most itself.

~26 min walk · 2.0 km
20:00
Natural wine and a serious kitchen in Tøyen, with enough range to keep the last dinner loose rather than ceremonial.
09:30
Start the last day by choosing a scent and pouring your own candle. It is calm, tactile, and gives you something more useful to take home than another photograph.
Book the session before fixing the rest of the day's times.

12:00
Take lunch at the St. Hanshaugen kitchen that changes character through the day. The hverdagsmat menu keeps this stop grounded and leaves room for the afternoon workshop.

~15 min walk · 1.2 km
14:30
Learn the basic technique, experiment with the form, and leave with a piece you made rather than chose from a shelf.
Workshop dates vary and should anchor the day's schedule.
~30 min walk · 2.4 km
20:00
For a last night, cross town to the wooden-house village of Kampen and the neighbourhood bistro people travel for. Blackboard menu, natural wine, and the warmth of somewhere that belongs to its street.
